  • From Madrid by Train

    Advantages: nice view (including city walls of Avila)
    Not very frequent.

    Take a taxi from the airport in Madrid to the train station in Madrid (Chamartín). The price for the taxi should be around 25-30 Euros and it takes about half an hour. Tell the driver that you need an official receipt ("necesito un recibo oficial perforado") so he is not tempted to be cheaty .

    Alternatively take the metro from the airport to metro stop Chamartín. A metro ticket from the airport to Chamartín costs 1 Euro and takes about 55 minutes. You have to change line only one time at Nuevos Ministerios.

    Advantages: Very frequent, on-board movies, newspapers, personal stereo.
    Disadvantages: no WC

    Take a taxi from the airport to the coach station "Auto-Res" in "Estación del Sur". The price for the taxi should be around 25 to 30 Euros and it takes about half an hour. Tell the driver that you need an official receipt ("necesito un recibo oficial perforado") so he is not tempted to be cheaty.

    Alternatively, take the metro from the airport to metro stop Méndez Alvaro. The price for the metro is 1 Euro and takes about 40 minutes. You have to change line at Nuevos Ministerios.

    Nearly every hour on the hour from 07.00 (08.00 Sundays) to 22.00 (Sundays at 23.00) there is an Express coach service to Salamanca. This quick and classy service costs (one-way - 17 Euros/return - 27,50 Euros). Additionally there is a regular service (one-way - 11.25 Euros - return - 20.25 Euros) which is slightly slower and less frequent (about 6 a day), but its last bus at 22.30 gives you a later chance to come to Salamanca.

    Length of the journey: 2,5 hours (express), 3 hours (regular).

    From Vallodolid by bus

    There is a direct bus from Valladolid Airport to Salamanca.
