TRAVEL. Salamanca. Travel Tips.
- Salamanca's nearest airports are Madrid (2.5 hours away) and Valladolid (1.5 hours away). The latter is served by Iberia to Paris and by Ryanair to Stanstead, London and Brussels. The former is served by numerous traditional and low cost airlines, details of which you will find on the links page. When booking flights, bear in mind that good deals can also be found if you are willing to fly via another European city (including the Balearic Islands).
- Your last possible chance to get to Salamanca is the 22h coach from Madrid (on Sundays 23h). This means that the very latest landing time you should consider is 20h (on Sundays 21h), to be on the safe side. The alternative is to spend the night in Madrid (our Travel Service will book a hostal for you), or come to Salamanca with a pre-booked individual pick up.
Similarly, on departing from Salamanca, the earliest public transport you can take is at 6h from Monday to Saturday and 8h on Sunday. So, don't book a flight before 10h (or 12h on Sundays) unless you are prepared to spend the previous night in Madrid.
- Salamanca is also well-served by international train services and highways from the rest of Europe.
- We can also arrange for a rental car to be waiting for you at the airport, and can book a garage for you while you are in Salamanca if you are bringing your car.
- It is very important that you let the school offices know when you are arriving at least 3 days before you come to make sure they have time to alert flat owners/flatmates/families. If for some reason there is no one home, first call the contact phone number if there is one or, as a last resort, call the emergency phone number: 646 980 353.
